From July 12 to 16, Fano will transform into an ancient Roman city thanks to the event Fanum Fortunae – The Fano of the Caesars. With over 2000 participants, both professionals and local enthusiasts, the city will travel back 2000 years. The streets will be animated by camps, rituals, demonstrations, and the spectacular chariot race, all framed by the Arch of Augustus. The four city factions - Boar, Dolphin, Wolf, and Fox - will compete for the final title, offering an unforgettable experience for residents and tourists alike.
Organized by the municipal administration and the Proloco Fanum Fortunae, with the support of numerous city and historical associations, the event will see the participation of reenactors from all over Italy. Among the groups involved will be the Greeks of Simmachia Ellenon of Fano, the Romans of Colonia Ivlia Fanestris, and the Celts of Teuta Senones Pisaurenses. These groups will set up their camps in the historic center, offering the public rituals, fights, and dances typical of the era. Walking through the streets of Fano, visitors will be able to fully immerse themselves in the daily life of ancient Rome.
The event's inauguration is scheduled for Wednesday, July 12 with the "Sacred Fire" ritual and the lighting of the Fanum Fortunae brazier. Thursday, July 13 will be dedicated to families with The Fano of the Little Caesars, an inclusive event that will also involve people with disabilities. Children can participate in the super chariot race and try out traditional small chariots. The day will also offer a reconstruction of a Roman market and a Roman domus, as well as educational and military demonstrations in the Pincio area.
Friday, July 14 will be all about shows, with toga performances in Andrea Costa Square and historical theater in Pincio. The day will culminate with fights and a scenic battle by Epika. Saturday, July 15 will see the four factions competing in the Ludi Fortunae, with shows and representations of ancient Roman ceremonies. The evening will end with the Bacchanalia Roman costume party and a reconstruction show titled "De Amicitia", based on Cicero's writings.
Sunday, July 16 will feature the grand finale with the Pompa Magna, a parade of 2000 participants passing under the Arch of Augustus.
