Passaggi Festival 2026 in Fano: Vitruvius and the sense of proportion between sea and books

Hotel CasaDei

The countdown to the most anticipated cultural event of the Marche summer has officially begun. From June 24 to 28, 2026, Fano will once again become the Italian capital of non-fiction literature with the fourteenth edition of Passaggi Festival. This year, the event takes on an even deeper meaning, closely connected to the extraordinary archaeological discovery in the city: excavations in Piazza Andrea Costa led to the confirmed identification of the basilica described by Vitruvius in De Architectura. The chosen theme, "The Sense of Proportion. Ideas, Cities, Civilizations. From Vitruvius to the Present", is therefore not just a tribute to the past, but a guide for navigating the challenges of the present day.

Why does the connection with Vitruvius make this edition special?

The discovery of the remains of the only confirmed work by the Roman architect Vitruvius has transformed Fano into an open-air laboratory. Passaggi Festival 2026 embraces this legacy as the center of a broader civic reflection. The closing keynote lecture on June 28 will be given by Paolo Clini, professor at the Marche Polytechnic University and leading expert on the Vitruvian Basilica. The festival will explore how the concept of “proportion” can still define the quality of urban spaces, the relationship with the environment and the strength of public discourse today. Taking part means finding yourself at the heart of a debate that combines archaeology, urban planning and contemporary non-fiction.

What are the first details about the program and guests?

Although the final schedule is still being published, the identity of the festival is already well defined. Alongside the major meetings in Piazza XX Settembre and at the Pincio, recurring events such as the “Renco - A Reading Among the Clouds” award dedicated to graphic non-fiction have already been confirmed, with an exceptional jury chaired by cartoonist Maicol & Mirco. This year’s official visual, created by Zaccone Guerra studio, depicts an armchair made of perforated bricks and stone: an invitation to pause and reflect critically. A massive turnout is expected, following the success of last year’s edition, which featured more than 140 events and 300 guests over five consecutive days.

How can you best experience the festival while staying by the sea?

The beauty of Passaggi Festival lies in its ability to spread throughout the city, from the historic center to the seafront. Choosing Hotel CasaDei means enjoying the privilege of staying just a few steps from the festival’s seaside locations, while also benefiting from the tranquility of a three-star hotel directly overlooking the beach. After an evening spent attending book presentations and meeting authors, there is nothing better than waking up to the sound of the waves and enjoying breakfast with a sea view. Since the hotel has already reopened on April 30, guests can also take advantage of the mild May and June weather for an early taste of summer before the festival reaches its peak.

Why book now for summer 2026?

The combination of Passaggi Festival and the opening of the Vitruvian itineraries is attracting an increasing number of cultural tourists. Booking in advance at Hotel CasaDei not only ensures proximity to the events, but also allows you to plan a complete holiday including seaside relaxation, discovering the Marche hinterland and tasting local gastronomic specialties such as the famous Moretta fanese coffee drink. With the reopening, the entire staff is ready to welcome you with the traditional Romagna-Marche hospitality, offering tailor-made services for families, couples and solo travelers seeking an authentic and rejuvenating experience.

If you want to immerse yourself completely in culture without giving up the pleasure of a holiday on the Adriatic coast, Hotel CasaDei is the ideal base. We are located directly facing the sea in Fano, and we reopened on Thursday, April 30. Hotel rooms are already available for immediate stays or bookings for the June festival and the summer season.
