Among the hotels in Fano, the Hotel CasaDei prides itself on being one of the most; appreciated 3-star hotels in the Marches for hospitality, services and location (practically one of the few hotels overlooking the sea in Fano).
Starting from our Casadei Hotel in Fano and heading towards Senigallia and then westward, there are hills dotted with very characteristic villages that offer travelers breathtaking views and captivating scents. Today, we want to discover them together, with ideas for spending a weekend filled with relaxation and beauty in the beautiful province of Ancona.
One of these gems is Serra de' Conti, perched on a hill to the right of the valley crossed by the Misa river. Its history dates back to the early Middle Ages when it became an Imperial Feud under the Marquis of Ancona. The historic center of Serra De' Conti, one of the largest in the region, preserves its charming medieval layout, with a brick castle surrounded by imposing walls from the 15th and 16th centuries. A visit to the "Museum of Monastic Arts" offers a unique perspective on pharmaceutical environments, the pantry, and artisan activities, enriching the experience of those who venture into this small Marche pearl.
A few kilometers away from Serra de' Conti, one idea is to stop in Ostra Vetere, a true historical monument among the Marche villages. Founded by the Senonian Gauls in the 4th century B.C., conquered by the Romans, and later destroyed during barbarian invasions, Ostra Vetere has an impressive history. The neo-Gothic bell tower of the Church of Santa Maria della Piazza dominates the landscape, and inside, you can find remarkable artworks, including an 18th-century scagliola altarpiece. The name "Vecchia" (Old) was added in 1882 to distinguish this village from the homonymous Montalboddo. Ostra Vetere stands as a living witness to centuries of history, with its artistic heritage and unique historical events.
Staying in the vicinity, Castelleone di Suasa offers a journey through Roman history in its archaeological park. Walking among Domus, the Amphitheater, and the Forum means walking through two millennia of history. The "Civic Archaeological Museum" in the heart of the historic center, once the residence of the Duchess of Urbino Livia della Rovere, houses artifacts that tell the story of this ancient city. The journey can continue to Corinaldo, where you can explore places related to Santa Maria Goretti and enjoy a series of cycling and hiking routes through the town and surrounding countryside.
At the end of the journey through these Marche treasures, the return to the coast will beautifully conclude this itinerary. The sunset at the roundabout of Senigallia is a spectacle not to be missed. By renting a bicycle, you can ride along the promenade, visit the Rocca Roveresca, the Church of the Cross with Barocci's artworks, and the archaeological area La Fenice. Senigallia is also known as the "Capital of Taste" for its excellent high cuisine restaurants, the result of the work of Michelin-starred chefs like Mauro Uliassi and Moreno Cedroni, always in harmony with the local flavors.
From medieval castles to Roman relics, each stop offers a fascinating and evocative journey into the past. A weekend dedicated to exploring these hidden gems is an invitation to immerse yourself in the authentic beauty of our region, the guardian of unique treasures and a rich and fascinating history. Discovering the Marche region means embracing the diversity of landscapes, traditions, and flavors that make this destination one of a kind, inviting visitors to experience an unforgettable journey through centuries of history that permeate every stone and alley of these charming villages. We look forward to welcoming you this summer to our hotel.
